EPA’s New CO2 Rules: Bad News For Blacks

by Deroy Murdock -Human Events
04/26/2010
The Environmental Protection Agency wants to curtail greenhouse gases. Black Americans should be afraid. Very afraid.
Five civil rights organizations recently condemned EPA’s plans to regulate carbon dioxide and other emissions as part of its war on so-called “global warming.” These groups’ leaders argue that the EPA’s December 7 “Endangerment Finding” and pending anti-CO2 regulations will slam Americans hard and blacks and other minorities hardest.
“President Obama wants to price us out of energy,” Harry Alford of the National Black Chamber of Commerce told Public Radio International. “This is a war on how we live in America and don’t regard it lightly. We need to fight them, we need to fight them hard, fight them fierce.’’ Alford represents some 100,000 black-owned companies.
A recent Affordable Power Alliance study foresees dire consequences from EPA’s restrictions on traditional energy production as it chases the chimera of so-called “global warming.”
“We estimated that implementation of the EPA Finding would…significantly reduce U.S. GDP every year over the next two decades, and by 2030 GDP would be about $500 billion less” than otherwise. The report also predicts EPA’s destruction of 2.5 million jobs by 2030.
APA projects that “EPA carbon restrictions would greatly increase U.S. energy costs,” specifically by 50% for gasoline, 75% for residential natural gas, and 100% for industrial natural gas by 2030.
APA expects the black poverty rate to grow from 24% to 30% and Hispanic poverty from 23% to 28%.
Due largely to these groups’ already low average incomes, APA explains, “rising energy costs have a disproportionately negative effect on the ability of minority families to acquire other necessities such as food, housing, childcare or healthcare. Essentially, the EPA Finding will have the effect of a discriminatory tax based on race.”
Blacks and Hispanics “see more sick days from work and school, and increased medical costs due to the ravages of greenhouse gas pollution,” the EPA stated in its defense. “We must act to stop this now, while seizing the opportunity to bring green jobs and green small businesses.”
Green, shmeen replied Carlos Duran of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. The APA study “shows a net loss of jobs in our communities,” Duran told PRI. “We don’t care about green jobs, or brown jobs, or purple jobs. We care about net jobs.”
With U.S. unemployment at 9.7%, there is a broad national appetite for work and a serious hunger for it among blacks, 16.5% of whom are jobless. The Hispanic unemployment rate is 12.6%.

“It is tragic that America’s first black President would deny economic opportunity to so many people of color,” said Congress of Racial Equality national spokesman Niger Innis.
The Obama Administration should deregulate, privatize and slash taxes, spending, and borrowing, so that corporations and entrepreneurs can reinvigorate America’s job-creation and wealth-generation machines. Shoveling regulatory gravel into them does not help.
As for so-called “global warming,” Washington should not act before answering serious questions about Earth’s temperatures record. After the ClimateGate scandal at England’s Climate Research Unit (CRU), London’s Meteorological Office announced that it is reevaluating 160 years of climate records. Alas, American climatologists rely heavily on CRU’s now-dubious statistics.
Meanwhile, NASA concedes that its temperature data are less than reliable. When a USA Today correspondent asked NASA in 2007 if its climate database were “more accurate” than others, FoxNews.com reported last March 30, NASA climate scientist Dr. Reto Ruedy steered the journalist elsewhere. “My recommendation to you is to continue using the [National Climatic Data Center’s] data for the U.S. means and [CRU’s] data for the global means.” Of course, CRU’s findings today look dodgy. NASA now says it must “check for local problems with the placement of thermometers relative to possible building obstructions.”

Until top trans-Atlantic scientists stop scratching their heads about whether Earth is unnaturally warming or cooling, would the EPA please kindly stop torturing black people?

Ann Coulter vs Rachel Maddow--No contest

It is just a beautiful thing to see Ann Coulter pound on the "intellectual giants" at the home for politics at M..Make  S..Sure N..No  B..Barack C..Criticism network.

It's way too easy to do in most cases, and they usually get really angry when you do (so that's probably why John Stewart doesn't make his career off of them because he doesn't want roughed up by that tough guy Maddow... or is it Oafferman.?)

It is hard to tell since they both have the same left biased, Progressive dialect, and usually since we know that no one of significance is really watching that it isn't worth it. ( See if Stewart did it then people might switch from his show because they might just be a little funnier trying to be serious then he is at seriously trying to be funny.)

I copied the whole thing so you can just read it all without interruption.

WOULDN'T A MINI SERIES ON ATTILA THE HUN EXPLAIN NANCY PELOSI?

April 21, 2010

Rachel Maddow's MSNBC special on Timothy McVeigh this past Monday night did not come a moment too soon. As Maddow explained in the introduction to her show: "Nine years after his execution, we are left worrying that Timothy McVeigh's voice from the grave echoes in the new rising tide of American anti-government extremism."

After months of hysterically warning viewers that cheerful, well-dressed tea partiers carrying "I Can See November From My House" signs could suddenly erupt into wanton violence, MSNBC finally had proof: Timothy McVeigh.

How about a special on the KGB to help us understand what makes Henry Waxman tick? We're just trying to seek answers ...

On her April 14 show, Maddow gave a "War of the Worlds" report on gun rights activists whom she claimed were planning tributes to Timothy McVeigh's bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City. "On the anniversary of the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City by Timothy McVeigh," she said, "there will be two marches on Washington."

After reminding viewers that McVeigh was "an anti-government extremist with ties to the militia movement" (his only "ties" being that he tried to join the Michigan Militia, but was rejected) Maddow said one of the groups, the Second Amendment March, had "been holding armed rallies at state capitols from Kentucky to Montana to Virginia -- anti-government marches and rallies at which participants are encouraged to wear and display their guns."

So if I have this straight, the pro-Second Amendment marchers were both armed ... AND displaying guns!

Having received an "A plus" from the Department of Redundancy Department, a deadly earnest Maddow continued: "Also on the occasion of the Oklahoma City bombing anniversary," there would be an Open Carry rally.

Participants, she said, "are being encouraged to bring guns" (you know, just like the guns Timothy McVeigh used to shoot up the federal building in Oklahoma City).

True, April 19 is the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. It's also the anniversary of Lexington and Concord.

Once upon a time, the skirmish that sparked the Revolutionary War was a date that every schoolchild knew. When British soldiers moved to seize the gunpowder and arms of voluntary militias, armed citizens defended themselves, firing upon the British in "the shot heard 'round the world" -- as Ralph Waldo Emerson put it in his "Concord Hymn."

Hmmm, I wonder if the gun rights activists chose April 19 for their rallies because it was the anniversary of Lexington and Concord -- or because it was the anniversary of Oklahoma City?

Unless the organizers of the Second Amendment March and the Open Carry rally specifically told Rachel, "Oh no, we picked April 19 to honor the bombing in Oklahoma City -- gosh, we had no idea it was date of Lexington and Concord!", I'm pretty sure they picked April 19 because that was the day armed patriots defended themselves from British troops.

Maddow's idiotic attempt to ascribe the date of the gun rights marches to Oklahoma City rather than Lexington and Concord is so Olbermanic that -- to paraphrase Truman Capote -- it is now apparent that you lose a point of your IQ for every day you spend at MSNBC.

We have enough U.S. history by now that there's not a day on the calendar that isn't the anniversary of something. In fact, the very day that Maddow was attacking gun rights groups on her show -- April 14 -- was the 235th anniversary of the founding of the first anti-slavery society in America!

It is also the anniversary of an anti-war actor's murder of a crusading, anti-slavery Republican president. (In addition -- like I have to tell any of you -- it was National Restless Leg Syndrome Awareness Day, but I don't think that had anything to do with Rachel's report.)

Oh sure, Rachel may claim that she had no idea what April 14 was the anniversary of, and that the date of her attack on our constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms was just a coincidence. But given the long and ugly history of gun control laws in America being used to keep guns out of the hands of free blacks, it was a shockingly insensitive date for Maddow to engage in such extremist anti-gun rhetoric.

What's curious about the left's current obsession with Timothy McVeigh is that it proves that -- despite a frantic search for 15 years -- liberals have come across no better evidence of burgeoning "right-wing extremist" violence than a drug-taking, self-described "agnostic" who was thrown out of the Michigan Militia and who proclaimed, "Science is my religion."

That sounds more like Bill Maher than Rush Limbaugh.

That last line is a killer!

Who knew people supporting the second amendment would pick the anniversary of when the Revolutionary War started as the day they would have their event.

Now you can really see how messed up things are over there at MSNBC and it must be because of staff reductions bur wouldn't you think since they are so Patriotic over at that network they would've wanted to do a story on the revolution instead of honoring a domestic terrorist with a full documentary?

If the Obama economy was better then they could have more staff and Maddow wouldn't have been forced to choose which story to run because she could've done both like I'm sure she wanted to do.

I bet it tore her up big time not to be able to talk about the revolution that started the greatest country in the history of the world. I hear her all of the time talking about how great our political system is. I never heard her more than just a few times mention how reconciliation would be a great way to pass the health care bill because we couldn't be bothered with the Constitution and such when it came to transforming the country into a Progressive paradise, especially for the elite media to get to be state-controlled; wow you don't get too many chances like that in a lifetime.

Now tell me when the last time it was that you had a chance to read something extremely funny and had a valuable history lesson at the same time?

It's hard to pass up an opportunity like that one great work Ann, keep it up!

GOP ramps up attacks on SEC over porn surfing

So you think that the same people who created this government agency to "oversee" the financial industry and now want to create another one for "consumer" protection are going to get a different result?

This administration can't even spend 787 BILLION dollars responsibly to get us out of a recession.

They have no concern about creating any jobs and so do we really think that they will be any more focused on making sure you don't get folled again when they are spending so much time being distracted?

GOP ramps up attacks on SEC over porn surfing

By DANIEL WAGNER, AP Business Writer Daniel Wagner, Ap Business Writer – Fri Apr 23, 4:10 am ET

WASHINGTON – Republicans are stepping up their criticism of the Securities and Exchange Commission following reports that senior agency staffers spent hours surfing pornographic websites on government-issued computers while they were supposed to be policing the nation's financial system.

California Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said it was "disturbing that high-ranking officials within the SEC were spending more time looking at porn than taking action to help stave off the events that put our nation's economy on the brink of collapse."

He said in a statement Thursday that SEC officials "were preoccupied with other distractions" when they should have been overseeing the growing problems in the financial system.

The SEC's inspector general conducted 33 probes of employees looking at explicit images in the past five years, according to a memo obtained by The Associated Press.

The memo says 31 of those probes occurred in the 2 1/2 years since the financial system teetered and nearly crashed.

Jon Stewart: Just another LIBERAL who can have a smart dialect when he needs to

Stewart host of Comedy Central's the Daily Show is engaged in a battle that started out as an attack against all of FOX News and it has turned into a daily back and forth with Bernard Goldberg a veteran newsman of 30 years and a regular FOX contributor on the O'reilly Factor.

Battle Royale: Jon Stewart v. Bernard Goldberg by Big Hollywood

If you have been following Big Hollywood’s marquee or if you frequent any site on the internet, you know Jon Stewart and Bernie Goldberg have been going at it. If you feel like watching all the verbal fisticuffs, we’ve compiled the exchange thus far in this post.

The latest shot fired by Goldberg is that by taking on Fox News, Stewart is “throwing spitballs at a battleship.” This is one issue where we at Big Hollywood disagree with what the venerable Mr. Goldberg said. Although “The Daily Show” has significantly less influence than Fox News, Jon Stewart is an incredibly potent weapon in the Left’s war against the Right and it’s our editorial position not to underestimate him (among other things, there is a case to be made he is a primary reason the Democrats recaptured Congress in 2006). We suspect Fox News and Goldberg agree with us to at least some extent since they are the ones who have been devoting time to try to take Stewart down a peg.

So, check them all out and let us know who’s winning so far. Here they are in chronological order with the most recent at the end: see video clip here

rest of article

Stewart is so far off base he is in the parking lot. People are taking a comedian seriously who equates"fair and balanced" with just agreeing with LIBERALS. What facts does Stewart report? He is full of vulgarity laced opinions and he is no different than Bill Maher.

He is using his attack on FOX as a METHOD to attract the MSNBC viewers but he for someone who is supposed to be so smart, he is following the same failed tactics as MSNBC and he is using the premise of a joke to show his true beliefs.

He was not warm and fuzzy and funny on his appearance on O'Reilly and actually I feel he is as immature and uninformed as most of his viewers. FOX is a NEWS organization with some entertaining segments, Stewart is a COMIC who is a news pundit WANNABE.

The unedited version of his interview with O'Rielly is even more telling.

He is used to having his way and being able to use his live audience of supporters as a way to keep his energy and look for support for his views.

He had actually made some comments in relation to LIBERAL politicians but these were after-the-fact advice pieces for them to learn from their mistakes and not to repeat them.

Hear are some examples from the unedited interview.

If nothing else, the unedited video will be long remembered for the following quip:

Stewart: "I know what this is. I come from Jersey—it's the same thing: "I'm not saying your mother's a w--re. I'm just saying she has sex for money. With people." [F]ox News used to be all about, you don't criticize a president during wartime. It's unacceptable, it's treasonous, it gives aid and comfort to the enemy. All of a sudden, for some reason you can run out there and say, "Barack Obama is destroying the fabric of this country."

Meanwhile it would appear that Stewart wouldn't dare think to be held to that standard...at least about George Bush, who has a full page of easy to find negative videos

Now with Barack Obama it has been a different story.... I see a couple of comments on policy and the teleprompter use but for as many videos as there are on this page the majority are overwhelming positive for someone who has only had a 5 1/2 minute career.

Stewart is typical of all of the LIBERALS who criticize FOX NEWS. They focus on the fact that FOX actually dares to criticize Obama and they were the only news outlet to show anything positive on George Bush. That in itself should be what causes the red flags to go up.

And this comment from someone in denial:

Stewart: So, how is Barack Obama a socialist? As far as I can see, the majority of the billions of dollars he's given, he's given to banks. So if he is a socialist, he's dyslexic......

This a key point in the video because all O'Rielly had to do was list the BILLIONS of dollars that has NOT gone to the banks and it wouldn't have hurt to mention that not only did the BANKS paid their money back, there were many of them forced to take the money in the first place.

States used part of the 787 billion stimulus money to shore up budget shortfalls in order to keep state UNION employees on the payroll.

Hello have you ever heard of GM and Chrysler? Again in order to keep the UNIONS from going under and don't tell me they paid the money back because they got 52 billion plus the health care bill money to save their benefit packages. They paid back 8 billion of the initial 16 billion "loan". What about paying the bond holders back the rest of the money they were owed? What about the salaried employees who were left out of the benefit recoup?

How about 9000 earmarks in the regular spending bill? That didn't all go to banks now did it?

Health care bill--16500 new IRS agents, 159 new agencies.......enough said

There are more things that could be pointed out; as of this moment the attack on Wall Street is in full swing and the last thing I would have said was that if Obama is not a socialist why isn't he doing anything to help create any jobs other than those in the public sector.

Bottom line is that Stewart is attacking the only non AM radio outlet that the Conservative viewpoint has and even then it is quite intermingled with the LIBERAL view as well.

The question is why is he doing this? I think the answer lies in the fact that he has maintained a solid footing with the base of support that he holds. He has also been able to get away with being negative and often time vicious in his comments because like so many other LIBERAL methods it is done under the false guise of something else and in his case it is 'comedy'.

Comedy Central is one of the only LIBERAL left-leaning outlets that isn't on the verge of financial ruin because of their one-sided coverage of the Obama administration...yet.
Stewart has taken it upon himself to be the banner bearer for the left because he still has a modest amount of respect from independents at this point.

If he continues on his one sided rants and he is outed as just another run of the mill LIBERAL who can speak with a smart dialect when he needs to (which is all that he is) then his 15 minutes on the varsity playing field will be up and back to junior high he will go, just like his predecessors who wanted so desperately to be taken seriously about all of the important LIBERAL issues and that just want to help everyone become mediocre.

Happy Earth Day: Debunking "The Story of Stuff"

Happy belated Earth Day! Yeah right when schools are teaching children that the Earth is more important than you are then we have a problem.

"Let's have a little more appreciation and reverence for the stuff we have instead of this mindless consumerism"
                     -Annie Leonard

Doesn't sound like a BAD thing does it? Sounds pretty harmless actually and that of course is the way that it gets passed the unsuspecting parent because it appears so harmless, and if you are a really busy parent and don't think about the details then you say well that's a good thing now isn't it and you have just given your approval so when later you try to counter this viewpoint you seem out of touch and old.

Its not only that the Earth is more important but that we as humans are overloading the planet just by existing. This series tries to teach through a scientific model but unfortunately the premises are flawed. Our children only KNOW what we teach them and when they are mislead by people they should be trusting to do the right thing it is very hard to get that opportunity to show  them the right way back.

Lee Doren through Big government has a four part series debunking this widely acclaimed and often used school curriculum.

Classroom Propaganda: Debunking ‘The Story of Stuff’ — Part 1by Lee Doren
Over the last few years, the Left has become increasingly bold with the type of teaching material it brings into classrooms. While biased information was once common. Now, blatantly false information cloaked with good intentions is the norm.

See video clip here
Last year, I was horrified to learn from The New York Times that Annie Leonard’s video, “The Story of Stuff” was being shown to extremely young students in schools around the country. In case you are unfamiliar with “The Story of Stuff,” imagine compiling every environmental and Marxian economic fallacy into one video with a smiley face. Imagine teaching students that military spending is 50% of the budget (it isn’t), that 4% of our original forests are left in America (our forests are increasing) and we are using too much “stuff” (only if you ignore trivial economic concepts like efficiency and prices, and think our prosperity must be curtailed).
Consequently, I spent about a week combing through the video’s footnotes, and subsequently created the 4-part “Story of Stuff” critique debunking the entire video. Since that time, I have received hundreds of emails telling me that my video critiques were used to get Leonard’s video out of the classroom. I’ve also been on Glenn Beck’s television show and CNN to discuss some of the many problems with Leonard’s work. (more…)

The attempt to bring the children on board is also brought to you by Disney.

SUCKER PUNCH ALERT: Disney Channel Goes Green with ‘Friends for Change’ on Earth Dayby Phelim McAleer But tomorrow, it appears, Disney will be suspending those principles and will engage in political programming. To mark Earth Day the channel is carrying a raft of programs which push the Green/Environmental agenda.

**Programming details after the jump.

Disney is famously apolitical. In fact, it probably prides itself as an anti-political organization. For years its calling card has been producing family oriented fare that would be welcome in any American household. Indeed it famously declined to distribute Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, which Moore managed to turn into a David v. Goliath story about censorship and corporate greed. This allowed the millionaire filmmaker to find another large corporation to distribute the documentary… whilst getting huge publicity railing against large corporations. Disney managed to survive this potential blow to their non-political reputation and saved their brand.

Why would the company that stood up to Michael Moore be willing to make such a bait and switch? My best guess is that these shows will not appear to be political programming. But this is a fallacy. One of the great victories for environmentalists in recent memory is that they have been able to portray environmentalism as apolitical. And this will be on full display tomorrow on Disney Channel. (more…)

And then you have the Hollywood elite throwing their weight around, and coincidentally, the display of hypocrisy would be laughable if these people wouldn't take themselves so seriously and make their supporters so rabid about this issue.

An Earth Day Message for Green Hollywood by Rich Trzupek

Happy Earth Day folks, or as we like to call it: Guilt Day. And, of all the people who are going to spend today hoping to shame you into remorse for being a dirty, rotten, polluter who is gradually destroying Mother Earth through your brazen use of automobiles and the reckless abandon with which you utilize incandescent light bulbs (aka: light bulbs that actually produce light), is anyone more annoyingly hypocritical than the denizens of Hollywood?

Oh sure, some celebs take a break from their jet-set lives to set a good example for us ignorant proles. Leo DiCaprio rides his bike around Manhattan and Cameron Diaz doesn’t “always flush” (way too much information) after visiting the powder room. Whew! The earth can breathe easy, knowing that Diaz isn’t going to complete her deposit until the stench gets so bad that the neighbors complain. Jessica Beal climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to “raise awareness about global warming,” something she could presumably have done without flying halfway around the world and consuming God-only-knows how many resources in order to mount a self-serving expedition. And then there’s Gwyneth Paltrow who encourages people to buy “eco-friendly” clothes from designer Stella McCartney, which sounds like a fine idea until one considers the amount of green needed to purchase McCartney green designs. (more…)

How about that pesky volcano?

You know it was a man-made volcano, George Bush probably has a machine to make volcanoes because you know he has a hurricane machine (Katrina)as well as an earthquake (Haiti, Chile) so he has to have a volcano one as well.

From sign of the times.net I mean no one would really try to report that it could be man-made now would they?
Once again 'experts' on the man-made global warming bandwagon spreading absurdities. The real issue is the massive volume of toxic fluoride and ash that is contaminating drinking water and threatening livestock.

Next we'll be told that humans caused the volcanic eruption...Oh hang on..CNN and NPR already have:

NPR and CNN worry that Global Warming may have caused Iceland's Volcano!!!

This is just too bizarre:

Diana Rehm (NPR): We do wonder whether there's human involvement in all of these eruptions, earthquakes, storms -
Elise Labott (senior State Department producer for CNN): - and how much global warming has a role in it. You know we've seen a lot of wacky weather but that's just a microcosm for what's happening around the world and how much climate change is contributing to earthquakes and volcanic ash - it's a really good question.

How exactly could global warming cause a volcano to go off?

The hypocrisy continues when you realize that President obama and Joe Biden took seperate PLANES today to get to New York City for two different appearences.
So as we see we have a great tribute to the Earth Day celebration, if only we could celebrate the greatness of our country and our Founding Father's in the same way.

A ROADMAP FOR AMERICA’S FUTURE 2.0

27 January 2010

A Roadmap for America’s Future 2.0 is a comprehensive alternative to the heavily government-centered ideology now prevailing in Washington. It has been updated to reflect the dramatic decline in our nation’s economic and fiscal condition since its introduction in 2008 – while still achieving the following goals: 1) providing health and retirement security for all Americans; 2) lifting the debt burden from future generations; and 3) promoting American job creation and competitiveness.

It achieves these goals through the following reforms:

HEALTH CARE.

• Ensures universal access to affordable health coverage by establishing a new $5,700 refundable tax credit for families to purchase insurance. It provides transparency on price and quality to help bring costs under control while enhancing the quality of care.

• Secures Medicare for current beneficiaries, and gradually phases in reforms for those under 55 years of age to make Medicare permanently solvent.

• Reforms Medicaid to give beneficiaries greater choice in their care, provide greater flexibility to States, and get spending under control to preserve this critical safety net program for future generations.

RETIREMENT SECURITY.

• Saves Social Security by making it permanently solvent, slowly phasing in reforms for those under 55 years of age.

• Strengthens Social Security for younger workers to get a better return by providing them with the option to contribute a portion of their taxes to personal retirement accounts.

TAX POLICY.

• Provides an alternative to the needlessly complex, cumbersome, and unfair tax code by giving taxpayers the option of filing their income taxes under a highly simplified tax code that has just two rates and no special tax deductions, credits, or exclusions (except the health care tax credit).

• Promotes work, saving, and investment by: 1) eliminating taxes on interest, capital gains, dividends, the alternative minimum tax [AMT], and the death tax; and 2) replacing the corporate income tax with a competitive, border-adjustable business consumption tax.

JOB TRAINING.

• Helps prepare the Nation’s workforce for success in the global economy by transforming 49 job training programs, scattered across eight agencies, into a flexible, dynamic program focused on results, and accompanied by clear measures of transparency and accountability.

Roadmap is a complete legislative proposal backed up by Congressional Budget Office estimates of its fiscal and economic consequences. These estimates show this plan puts the Federal government on a sustainable fiscal path and results in a stronger economy for future generations.
